Healthier Apple Crisp

There’s something about warm apple crisp this type of year. I was looking for a few recipes to try and make a healthier crisp, but ended up just testing my own and it turned out great!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 6 cups of apples sliced (give or take - I had so many apples from apple picking so I just sliced up a handful)

  • 1 cup of water (optional, I just like my apple crisp super moist)

  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon (can add more or less depending on your taste)

  • 2 tablespoons of nutmeg (same as above)

  • 1 cup of sliced almonds

  • 1-2 cups of peanut butter granola (if you like more of a crisp, I would do 2 cups, but I really wanted the core of the treat to be on the apples, more simple)

  • PB (1 tablespoon per serving)

Here’s what you do with them:

  • Add water, apple slices, cinnamon and nutmeg to crockpot on high - put timer on for ~3 hours

  • Every 30-40 minutes, would just check how the apples are cooking, make sure they don’t get too soggy, and mix em up

  • The last 30-45 minutes, add almonds, and granola, mix them up. Your apple crisp should be good after 3 hours

  • If you’re reckless like me, you may add even more cinnamon and nutmeg :)

  • You can add yogurt, ice cream or a dollop of peanut butter when done!

  • Enjoy warm!

Be well xx
