Wellness Wednesday Review: WTHN
Finally had a chance to check out WTHN and I’m so excited to share all the wellness deets with you.
What is it:
WTHN is a fresh take on acupuncture, which is an ancient system of complementary medicine that’s worked to keep people healthy for more than 2,500 years. According to their website, these needles interact with the fascial network (our internal messenger system) to alter brain chemistry and stimulate internal responses, such as regulating hormones like cortisol, releasing pain-relieving endorphins, increasing circulation, reducing inflammation and more.
Benefits of acupuncture include: reduced stress and anxiety, relief from digestive issues, reduced chronic pain - the list goes on!
Does it hurt?
Nope! Not even a little. Granted, I was nervous before going in as this was my first time doing acupuncture and I actually don’t like needles. These needles are “finer than a strand of hair” and I could barely feel them.
The vibe:
The space is super gorgeous, chic and overall a great atmosphere - I felt all kinds of zen just walking in. They have herbs, skincare and other products you can try and then buy before or after your treatment. They also have a wellness lounge where you can get a little extra “me” time with water, tea and bone broth!
Staff:
Karen was my healer and I felt totally comfortable with her right away. She genuinely seemed to care about my overall health and well-being. The rest of the staff was also friendly and welcomed questions before and after I went in.
The treatment:
For your first time, your healer will walk you through specific areas you want to improve on, from stress and anxiety relief, fatigue and chronic pain, to digestive and women’s health issues, there are so many areas you can focus on. You’ll work together to customize your treatment plan. I admittedly wanted to work on a handful of areas and that was totally fine!
During the treatment, I had a sleep mask on, had a heated table (you can control the temp!) and was guided through meditation and sound therapy. The needles were in for about 25 minutes and I was comfortable and relaxed the entire time. My body felt heavy - in a good way. You are given a small buzzer if you feel anxious, uncomfortable or have to go to the bathroom! Afterwards, my healer gave me a list of things for me to check out re: my digestive concerns and my fatigue.
Well and Gray Wellness Rating: 4 out of 5
The only reason I’m not rating this a 5 out of 5 just yet is that my Rx is to come back regularly, so I want to make sure I keep up with it and see how I’m doing. It’s not a one and done sort of deal! With work and living on LI, it will be a bit of a challenge but totally worth it.
For the love of wellness, def give it a try! DM me with any questions and Be well xx
